The family is committed to their region and its people with a lot of commitment and responsibility: the team employs more than 50 people, and the Altenburger Brewery is also a training company and trains young people with passion and enthusiasm. But the commitment to the region goes beyond that: the raw materials necessary for brewing are also sourced from farmers in the area. Beer with responsibility and passion is the brewery's motto. The beer that comes out of it is also something to be proud of: the brewed products from the Altenburger brewery have already won numerous awards and not only impress the jurors of international competitions.

Through the crisis with courage

Good beer has been brewed in Altenburg for quite a long time. The original Altenburg brewery was founded in 1871 and already had a considerable output back then. The good beer flows freely and in 1914 the Altenburger brewery was considered the largest brewery in Thuringia. At the end of the 20th century, the brewery faced a major crisis: the first modern beers appeared on the market and overtook their traditional, handcrafted colleagues. But the Altenburg team doesn't give up. A Franconian brewing family takes over the business with new enthusiasm and passion and brings a breath of fresh air into the sacred halls of the brewery. Modernization measures are taken with care and caution, but the heart and basic principles of the Altenburger Brewery remain unaffected. Today the company has regained its secure footing and not only supplies the region with its outstanding beer. The name Altenburger once again stands for delicious beer with passion and tradition.
