Der Hirschbräu

The Höß family is at the head of a small brewery empire in Sonthofen and is already in its tenth generation! Beer flows through the veins of all family members and people love and live beer in the Höß house. The family runs a brewery in Allgau, which is located almost 1,000 meters above sea level in the building of a former ski lift. In addition to this unique brewery, the Höß' are the proud owners of Hirschbräu.

Ten generations of Höss

This traditional brewery has had brewing rights since 1657 and became the property of Josef Anton Höß 200 years later. He laid the foundation for many more generations of his family, who made the brewery what it is today with a lot of love and passion. A lot has happened between then and now: at the end of the 19th century, the brewery was completely renovated, only to be destroyed again about 50 years later. But this setback only slightly affects the Höß family's motivation. With undying enthusiasm, the team picked themselves up again and celebrated the brewery's 300th anniversary shortly afterwards. Since the demand for the good beer from Hirschbräu continued, the family had to make some expansions and modernizations over the years. The fermentation cellar and brewhouse were brought up to date with the latest technology, a brewery inn was built and bottling systems were added. Today the brewery brews according to the most modern standards and is working hard to reduce the brewery's own ecological footprint.

Best beer made with passion

In addition to the environment, the Höß family is of course also concerned about their beer. The top priority is to work on fine creations, fine-tune the beers in the core range and try out new creations. Her tireless pursuit of perfection and perfect taste has already been recognized internationally and won highly coveted prizes from renowned competitions. The wonderful beers from Hirschbräu are based on the best raw materials. Your Allgäu specialties are made from the best ingredients in the region. The hops come from the sunny slopes in Tettnang and the Hallertau and are inspected by the brewers themselves after the harvest. The barley is grown by farmers in southern Bavaria and processed by qualified malting houses. The final touch to the beer comes from the crystal-clear brewing water drawn from the brewery's well. The Höß family has maintained their enthusiasm and passion for good beer over more than 350 years of brewing history and to this day stands for beers of the best quality.
