550 years of brewing history

The brewery with the rabbit is one of the oldest breweries in the city of Augsburg and began at Bäckergasse 17. In 1464 it was first mentioned in a document that a beer brewer was the owner of the property. Over the centuries, everything has been baked, brewed and served in the house. It is not entirely known when the building received the name “Zum Hasen”, but when Matthias Rösch bought the brewery in 1815, it already bore this title. Thanks to expansion and intensive work, he helped the Hasen-Bräu to grow in success - a mission that his son later continued to pursue. The Rösch family bought up additional breweries, opened new locations, converted the company into a joint-stock brewery and moved the entire brewery operation to new premises. From then on, only beer was served in the old brewery. The Second World War took its toll, but the Hasenbrauerei recovered quickly and began rebuilding after a short time. Today the company is run by the Radeberger Group and is not only one of the oldest but also one of the most popular breweries in the city of Augsburg.

The brewery's range was small but fine from the start. The team brews a selection of classic German brews, made with traditional craftsmanship, recipes passed down from generation to generation and great attention to detail. One of the favorites on the Hasenbrauerei's beer menu is the Hasen Helle , a classic with charm and character. The traditional light wine impresses with its fresh aroma, which is made up of robust grains and mild hints of hops. The brewery looks back on more than 550 years of history and has accumulated an incomparable wealth of experience during this time, from which its customers in particular benefit.
