This little story from Estonia is a true success story. What started as a private project by four homebrewers and beer aficionados soon exploded into a major project. The Estonians' fine beer was so successful with sales that exceeded all expectations that they have had to increase and expand their brewing capacity several times since they were founded in 2011. No problem for the boys from Tallinn!

Big, bigger, Põhjala

In contrast to many craft beer brewers, the guys from Põhjala grew out of gypsy brewing relatively quickly and after three years threw themselves into the business with their own brewing system. Often, many craft beer breweries are and remain cuckoo or gypsy breweries, which means that they do not own their own brewery and brew their beer at larger breweries that are temporarily vacant. Põhjala has already moved: After they outgrew their first brewery, they moved with all their luggage to the shipyard district of Tallinn and opened their taproom there. A stylish establishment decorated in a contemporary hipster style that invites you to relax and drink a beer. But it's not just in Tallinn itself that you can try Põhjala's excellent craft beer: the guys now supply more than 30 countries with their beer specialties and the Bierothek® also has Baltic delicacies like Virmalised up its sleeve.

To pay homage to their Estonian roots, they were inspired by Estonia's breathtaking nature and the country's cuisine. Their dedication is reflected both in the ingredient list of their beers and in the design of the labels. Magnificent landscapes and abstract structures of organic origin adorn the bottles - combined with the minimalist logo, they are quite an eye-catcher. And the design doesn't promise too much: their crowd favorites like the Öö Imperial Baltic Porter or the Uus Maailm contain only the best ingredients, but also a full load of taste. By the way, the Must Kuld label is a special eye-catcher - the expert botanist will immediately notice the dark malt grain, while everyone else will stare with wide eyes at something that looks very similar to the female pubic area. Pure nature in every sense.
