There are all sorts of reasons why you feel thirsty. Sometimes you just feel the need for liquid, other times you've just been exercising, run to the bus, drunk nothing but coffee all day, or it's particularly warm and dry outside. Beer thirst is a subcategory of normal thirst and occurs even more often for some people. The Australian brewery Victoria Bitter has chosen beer thirst as the motivation for its work. But only the beer thirst that you've earned.
Every step of the process, every effort and every single bottle of beer at Victoria Bitter is dedicated to the "(...) hard earned thirst" of its customers. In its commercial, which has been broadcast since the 1960s with the same song and different image, the brewery shows a whole series of activities that earn one's thirst: chopping wood, digging holes, mowing lawns, working in the forest, clearing leaves from gutters and building entire houses awakens thirst that can be quenched with a well-deserved good Victoria Bitter . The perfect beer for cooling down and refreshing was first brewed in 1854 and was created by Thomas Aitken. The brew contains pale malt from Australia and the Pride of Ringwood hop variety, which is grown in both Victoria and Tasmania. The beer is adapted to the large temperature fluctuations and the enormous heat of Australia and quenches thirst even when the thermometer climbs above 30 degrees. Nowadays there are two more variations of this classic, the Xtra and the Low Carb versions, but Victoria Bitter in its original form is without a doubt the most popular beer in the range.
Thomas Aitken was not only the creator of Victoria Bitter, but also the founder of the brewery of the same name. In 1842, at just 19 years of age, he took the long sea voyage from Scotland to Australia and landed in Geelong, not far from Melbourne. Less than ten years later, he founded his first brewery and another shortly after. He built up a small brewing empire, which was passed on to his son Archibald after his death. Thomas' creation, Victoria Bitter, has survived all changes in ownership and is still very popular today.
