For his latest coup, master brewer David Hertl sat down with his grandmother Edeltraut and developed a fine spread that not only goes well with fresh stone-baked bread, cold cuts and cheese, but also goes wonderfully with beer. This is not only due to the Franconian origin of the mustard (and the master brewer), but above all because, in addition to the conventional ingredients, it also contains a generous portion of bock beer. This special extra ingredient gives the spicy mustard a subtle tartness and adds complexity and depth. And some alcohol.
We recommend the beer mustard from David’s grandmother’s pen as the perfect accompaniment to a hearty snack: sourdough bread with a crispy crust, Ziebeleskäs with fresh cheese, chives, butter, a fine cheese and a good dollop of beer mustard on top.
