You can find out here what Katzenellenbogen has to do with beer!

Titting is located in the middle of the picturesque Altmühltal Nature Park. Lush green meadows, lush forests and streams with crayfish and trout surround the idyllic village in the Eichstätt district. Countless hiking trails run through the area and invite visitors from near and far to relax in the countryside. Cycling tours, hikes and excursions make you thirsty, the people from Titting know that too. Beer has been brewed in Titting's moated castle since 1707, supplying locals and guests alike.

Princely beer

What once served as a summer residence for the Eichstätter Prince-Bishop Marquard II Schenk von Castell is now a popular Titting attraction and the home of the Gutmann brewery. Beer has been brewed in the castle for more than 300 years. The eventful history of the brewery began when Prince-Bishop Johann Anton I Knebel von Katzenellenbogen established a brewery in the moated castle. The gentleman with the amusing name wanted to make sure that fresh beer was always on hand and simply brought the brewery straight to his house. The brewery finally came into the possession of the Gutmann family via detours in 1855 and remains so today. The Gutmanns maintain their traditional heritage with great care and expertise and brew beers that are still of princely quality. The beer that the family has always been known for is Weizen. Gutmann Weizen has been brewed since 1913 and has been continually improved and optimized ever since. The original taste is preserved and maintained with a lot of care and expertise.

History meets modernity

Despite all the tradition, the Gutmann family has not neglected to take a step into the future. As early as 1989, the brewery entered into a cooperation with the Jura-Land producer group and has since sourced its grain from natural, neutrally controlled cultivation. This makes them pioneers when it comes to regionality and sets a good example. To ensure excellent quality, the Gutmann family has created its very own purity law. Hand-picked raw materials, mineral-rich brewing water from the brewery's own well and transparency in all steps of the process ensure that the beer is uniquely good. The Gutmanns are involved in every step of the process and even kiln their grain in their own malt house. The Gutmann brewery's range is constantly growing and the specialization in wheat beer makes the brewers real wheat experts. You can see and taste the experience, specialist knowledge and the great passion with which the Gutmann family pursues their goals. The Gutmanns have been brewing their excellent wheat for six generations and contribute to the cultivation of beer as a cultural asset with numerous festivals and events.

Here we brew with heart and craftsmanship.
