BroBier

This very special small brewery was born out of the passion for drinking good beers. BroBier is a so-called gypsy or cuckoo brewery. This special term is used for breweries that do not have their own brewing equipment. Instead of purchasing their own equipment, cuckoo brewers nest in existing breweries and brew their beer there. This collaboration is a symbiosis of mutual benefit, because the Gypsys can keep their starting budget as small as possible and the long-established brewery is supported by higher utilization of its facilities. BroBier are the friends Andreas Eckschmidt and Johannes Lurz, who used this method to push their home brewery from a hobby to a professional business.

From mulled wine cooker to brewing kettle

If you like drinking beer, you should know about it too. Something like this was the basic idea of the brewers and founders of BroBier. Using countless books, Andreas and Johannes familiarized themselves with the topic until they were ready to start their very first attempt at brewing. They made their first brew in a mulled wine cooker and were rewarded with a solid amber. Based on this good experience, we experimented, tried and improved from now on. The boys didn't just want to brew something, they wanted to do their own thing right from the start and brew their beer according to new recipes. This ambition gave rise to a thick folder with their own recipes and the demand from friends and acquaintances, which they soon no longer met. But even increasing their equipment wasn't enough. In 2017, the brewers at BroBier switched to a professional brewery for the first time and from then on brewed their increasingly popular beer there.

Small but nice

Given the type of brewing, BroBier's range is not huge, but it is correspondingly exclusive. The boys attach great importance to regionality and, wherever possible, select ingredients that come from the Franconian region. In order not to be more papal than the Pope, they do not limit themselves exclusively to regional products: If an American hop surpasses the taste of the one from the Altmühltal, then the American goes into the kettle, whether Franconian or not. Individual interpretations of classic brewing styles create BroBier's ever-popular beers such as the Freiraum Ale , a composition of five different hop varieties, or the Helle Rauschbock , an amber-colored Bock that does what it promises.
