The Urbock is a very special beer specialty from Schlenkerla. Just in time for the beginning of the cold season, the traditional brewery brews its full-bodied Urbock and thus supplements its range of the finest smoked beers with a delicious strong beer. So that the Urbock can be served in autumn, brewing begins in summer. Once the brewing process is complete, the Urbock is allowed to mature to its full glory in the brewery's rustic rock cellar. Deep below the historic Stephansberg, the Urbock has developed into an aromatic delicacy.
The Urbock from 2016 is a limited special edition. The unfiltered vintage version of the popular Urbock is stored in the Felsenkeller for a full four years and during this time it gains in taste, depth and complexity. In addition, a higher malt content ensures a silky mouthfeel. The Urbock presents itself in the darkest mahogany in the glass and is adorned with a hazelnut-brown head of foam. A smoky scent of autumn campfire and sweet dried fruit fills the air, and the initial taste confirms the first impression: wood fire, caramel, finely dry and balanced.
As a rule, the Urbock is served directly in the brewery's dining room. Countless beer fans gather in the glut of the pub on Dominikanerstraße Bamberg to ring in the autumn with the strong beer speciality. But the Schlenkerla Urbock also tastes really good at home.
