Bars and breweries are true dream teams, as anyone who has ever visited a bar knows. The pub benefits from the brewery’s good beer and the brewers are happy when they can put their feet up in the evening and someone else brings their work to the people. Sometimes, however, more develops from this relationship with mutual benefits: brewers and hosts become friends and, in the best case, even start collaborations.
This is what happened at the Bonn beer bar Balthasar and the Ale-Mania team. The beer experts have thrown their accumulated expertise together to create a beer that combines the craftsmanship of the brewers with the bartenders’ sense of customer needs. Their collaboration brew is a Double Dry Hopped India Pale Ale with a whopping 6.6% alcohol content and the concentrated power of Comet, Chinook and Amarillo. The hop varieties are combined with barley and wheat malt and form a juicy beer that flows into the glass in warm copper gold and completes its attractive appearance with a stately head of foam. A bouquet of tropical fruits fills the air and introduces the enjoyment of the beer in an atmospheric way. The initial taste follows quickly and scores with an amazingly dry character, an abundance of exotic fruit and a harmoniously balanced bitterness.
