Kerwa, Kirmes, Kirwa or Kirta - There are numerous colloquial synonyms for the word Kirchweih. No matter what you call it, for many the annual festival is the highlight of the event calendar. Shooting galleries, rides, bratwursts and lottery booths are a must at any Kerwa. If there is also a beer tent, all is well with the world. At least that's how it is in Bavaria. Here, people look forward to the fair so much that they dedicate a special beer to the event. You have to celebrate the festivals as they fall and brew the festival beers as they are needed, right?
In any case, the Ayinger private brewery is dedicating a special festival beer to the Ayinger Kirta, which the Ayinger people really look forward to every summer. Every year in October the time has come: the Kirta takes place and the Kirtabier also starts. The naturally cloudy seasonal beer is brewed using a two-mash process and contains three different, aromatic malts. The malty wonder has an alcohol content of 5.8% and not only impresses with its strong color!
The Kirta beer flows into the glass in the color of chestnut-brown October leaves and forms a stately, white head of foam. An autumnal potpourri rises from the airy foam, smelling of ripe apples, crunchy nuts and soft caramel. On the palate there is a palette of wonderful malt notes. The finish is delicately bitter and skilfully rounds off the play of aromas.
