The Weizenbock from the Ayinger private brewery has a long tradition. The strong beer was brewed for the first time when the brewmaster of the house celebrated his sixtieth birthday. That was in 1995 and since then the bock has been part of the brewery’s core range. The strong wheat is particularly popular in winter: Thanks to its voluminous body, the soft sweetness and the wonderful spiciness, the fine drop goes wonderfully with icy cold days with snow, sun and minus temperatures. And we’re not the only fans of it! At the Meininger International Craft Beer Award 2012, the beer received top marks from the judges in the Weizenbock category and won the gold medal.

The tasty trophy hunter flows into the glass in the color of creamy honey. A stately head of foam sits enthroned on the shimmering copper beer, filling the air with a malty scent. The trained nose can see hints of ripe banana, roasted grain, honey and delicate cloves in the bouquet. Encouraged by the sensual smell, the first sip presents us with a wonderfully fruity beer that tastes of sweet banana and full-bodied malt. A subtle acidity and a restrained bitterness complete the play of aromas.

The Weizenbock from Ayinger is an extremely harmonious brew that scores with a subtly balanced recency, a silky-soft mouthfeel and a crowning conclusion.
