Like many traditional companies, breweries also love symbols. Lions, eagles, rams, and bears have adorned logos and labels for centuries. They represent virtues such as strength, quality, perseverance, and craftsmanship. Heraldic animals convey a brewery's values long before the first sip reaches the palate: They promise stylistic integrity, reflect guild pride, and mark a brewery's individual signature. In Düsseldorf, the Im Füchschen brewery continues this legacy with an animal that embodies cunning and vigilance: the fox. For hundreds of years, it has accompanied the brewery and pointed the way to handcrafted beer— historic Altbier and, since 2017, Pilsner.
The Füchschen Pils presents itself in a crystal-clear straw gold in the glass and piles up a steady white head thanks to finely sparkling carbonation. Precise hop aromas tickle the nose: fresh herbs, tangy citrus zest, a hint of blossom, and spicy resin notes appear in both the aroma and taste. Gentle grains emerge on the palate, providing a harmonious malt sweetness and elements of bread crust and hay. A straightforward, slightly tart bitterness rounds out the aromatics. The finish is long, crisp, and very clean.
The Füchschen Pils is finely balanced, dry, and boasts a crisp edge and soft sweetness. It pairs perfectly with hearty dishes, fish, and dishes with fresh herbs.
