The Baptist Helles is based on the beer style that was brewed in the "Alte Freyung" at the beginning of the 20th century. Great-grandfather Joseph Göller ran the Göller brewery together with his wife Magarethe and brother Baptist, who gave this beer its name. Baptist Göller was responsible for agriculture in the Alte Freyung, while company founders Joseph and Magarethe Göller took care of the brewery and the inn. Baptist’s "shrewdness" and his passion for sheep’s head have been handed down to this day.
The Göller brewery is located in the inner courtyard of the Freyung building, which, like the beer garden, extends to the Messerschmidtsgraben and thus breaks through the course of the old city wall to the north.
The sun-yellow-golden clear light builds up a wonderfully fluffy head of foam when poured and captivates with a refreshing citrus note in the scent in rascal mania.
The grainy initial taste is slightly sweet with a fine tart note. Vegetables and butter flavors also give the Baptist Hellen a beautiful characteristic of country beer. In the aftertaste the Baptist-Helle is rather spicy.
This refreshing light is reminiscent of a shandy or a fine lemonade and its light drinkability makes it a welcome ice-cold thirst quencher in summer.
