An absolute highlight in the festival calendar of the Franconian town of Forchheim is the Anna Festival. The annual festival is known far beyond the borders of Franconia and draws people from far and wide to the gates of Franconian Switzerland for a few enjoyable hours or days. Every year in July, the Forchheim innkeepers get ready to spoil the masses with delicious beer and hearty food. On the shady terraces of the beer cellars in the Kellerwald, you can even endure the summer heat. Visitors have an incredible choice of 23 cellars where they can feast and drink. In addition to the culinary delights, the Annafest offers entertainment for young and old: rides, booths, gambling and live music make up a festival program that should suit every taste. Because it’s so beautiful, around half a million guests flock to Forchheim every year - if you don’t like crowds, you should choose a different date for your visit.
But you can also participate from afar: 15 breweries from Forchheim and the surrounding area brew the finest beers especially for the Annafest, which are only available once a year. One of these breweries is Braumanufaktur Hertl, which doesn’t come from Forchheim, but saved one of the city’s most popular breweries. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a hermit or a group member - you shouldn’t miss the Hertl’sche Annafest beer!
