The brewery in Bamberg's Wunderburg is best known for its excellent men's pilsner . The classic in the German beer landscape is the specialty of the Keesmann brewery and is enjoyed far beyond the borders of the cathedral city. But the brewers can do more than just Pilsner, as their seasonal Bock proves.

Bock beer has a long tradition, especially in Franconia. Every festival required a bock beer and no monastery survived the dispensable Lent without the rich, strengthening beer. The tradition of bock beer is still upheld today and beer lovers look forward to winter every year because that is when most bock beers appear at celebratory bock beer tappings. Spring is also Bock beer time: After the long, cold winter, you welcome the warm season with delicious Maibocks. Franconia is bock beer country!

The Bock from Keesmann flows into the glass in a magnificent, clear gold tone and forms a stable head of foam, which is fed by fine bubbles of carbon dioxide. An enticing scent of gently roasted grain, sun-dried hay and buttery caramel rises from the creamy, white foam. A subtle acidity complements the play of aromas. The initial taste reveals a full-bodied beer with wonderful, fat malt notes and elegant hop undertones. The aroma of freshly baked stone oven bread caresses the palate, warm hay and soft, creamy caramel accompany the delicate taste. The hops add a green herbal note and give the bock a wonderful bitterness that increases considerably towards the finish.

An extremely elegant goat.
