Über Normal Null, or in short Ü.NN, is a very special name for a very special beer. The light beer from the Kehrwieder creative brewery not only stands out from its colleagues in terms of taste, it also has a unique feature: Ü.NN is the first non-alcoholic pale ale in Germany.
Non-alcoholic? Actually. Even if you can't officially say it's alcohol-free with 0.4% residual alcohol, it's still non-alcoholic and won't give anyone a headache if you overindulge. And the minimal percentages tempt you to do this because they guarantee the full taste. In order to brew a non-alcoholic beer like a traditional one, the brewers at Kehrwieder use a special yeast that cannot ferment the malt sugar. It enables a completely normal brewing process without producing alcohol. The aromatic hop varieties Simcoe and Mosaik, along with the yeast and residual alcohol, ensure a wonderfully full-bodied taste.
Ü.NN flows into the glass in a beautifully deep amber tone and shows a slight cloudiness that comes from the special yeast used. From the fine foam that crowns the beer, a tart yet fruity composition of orange, passion fruit and floral hop notes rises. The smell test is convincing, but the really important thing is the taste. But don't worry, the non-alcoholic IPA also excels here: aromas of grapefruit and passion fruit meet a subtle malt sweetness on the tongue. A strong hop bitterness elegantly completes the play of aromas.
In the future, drivers will no longer have to go without delicious beer!
