The Kundmüller brewery from Weiher has a wide range of very different beers in its repertoire: their cellar , lager or Pils are true classics and are not only very popular in and around Bamberg. There are also sophisticated craft beers that are brewed with a decent amount of hops and delight audiences with more complex flavors and crisp bitterness. The seasonally brewed bock beers are well known throughout Franconia and people flock to Weiher from near and far when the brewery invites you to tap the bock beer. For some time now, a series of exquisite cask-aged beers has crowned the selection: For this series of very special beers, the brewers take on intensive, complex beers anyway and give them the finishing touch by aging in wooden casks.
The Weizenbock Sherry is one of these beers. The dry-hopped wheat bock serves as the basis, and used casks, which previously contained the finest Pedro Ximénez sherry, are responsible for the refinement. The sherry has long been drunk, but its unmistakable taste is still in the wood and is passed on to the beer during the seven-month storage period. In the end, the beer creation is a fine drop with earthy wood notes, hints of spicy vanilla, a good portion of sherry flavor and the fruity and hop-intensive character of the Weizenbock.
