The Gleisdreieck underground station in Berlin’s Kreuzberg district is certainly known to many non-Berliners: The hectic junction between three different underground lines is a so-called tower station and is located at a dizzying height directly above the street. The Gleisdreieck brings traffic from different parts of the city together and also houses a listed steel bridge. And even if the Gleisdreieck is no longer a triangle at all, the underground station is still a central meeting point and an important link between Berlin’s many areas.
The Berlin brewers at the BRLO brewery have a soft spot for underground stations and, after the Kottbusser Tor, also dedicate a fine beer to the Gleisdreieck. The homage to the Gleisdreieck is also an Imperial Berliner Weisse with orange peel, hibiscus blossoms and elderberry that matured in barrels. The barrels of an aromatic white wine were selected for the refinement of this beer.
Gleisdreieck flows into the glass in a warm berry tone and adorns itself with a pink foam crown. A refreshing scent of white grapes, blooming summer flower meadow and sun-kissed citrus fruits rises from the rose-colored splendor. The initial taste reveals a summer symphony: The unmistakable aroma of deep red elderberry juice combines with a fruity acidity, notes of fine white wine and tangy citrus fruits to create an irresistible mixture. Gleisdreieck is a strong Berliner Weisse with a variety of fruit notes and a pointed acidity that makes you want more.
