Many beers have a beard, but not this one.
There are beer styles that are brewed and re-released over and over again until no one can really drink them anymore. Beers with a beard, you could say. Almut von Emma – Beers without a Beard doesn’t want to brew exactly these beers. She brews innovative, interesting and creative beers that simply don't have a beard but are something completely different!
Kuckucksrot is one of those beardless beers and we love it! The light American Amber Ale initially enchants with its incredibly inviting color. The beer flows into the glass in a clear, penetrating red and is crowned by a delicate, fine-pored sparkle. The slim body is hoppy and fruity and has a pleasant tartness. In order to get the best out of the hops, Almuts hopped their Kuckucksrot late or cold. In this way, it elicits the full flavor power of the four hop varieties used and brings out aromas of pine resin and tropical fruits.
Fun fact: Kuckucksrot is the perfect name for this beer in several ways. The color reference is clear. In addition, Almut Kuckucksrot did not brew in her own brewing system but as a Kuckucks brewer, i.e. as a guest in an established brewery. And the location also fits like a glove: Almut chose a brewery in the Black Forest. The Black Forest is known for its cuckoo clocks like no other region in the world.
