A certain thirst for sensation is part of human nature, and that cannot be denied. No matter how reasonable, decent and down-to-earth you are, life has to have a touch of drama in store, otherwise it gets boring. We no longer indulge our lust for excess with gladiator fights or executions, instead we watch the scariest horror films and searched for series in which corrupt police officers commit crimes and serial killers are up to mischief. We read horrifying stories, listen to true-crime podcasts, and let friends and family tell us horror stories with morbid delight.
Food for the sensationalism, which does not awaken any nightmares afterwards, is the Sensational Pils from Kraftpaule. The Stuttgart brewery loves action and drama as much as we all do and has channeled that excitement into a beer. Because the brewers like a challenge, they chose the Pils and brought the traditional classic back to life with an unreasonably large load of sapphire hops.
In addition to Saphir, the resurrected Pilsener also contains the US Warrior variety and a portion of Pilsner malt. The 5.3% strong brew brings a smooth combination of light malt, sun-ripened straw, freshly mown grass and citrus zest into your glass. A moderate bitterness rounds off the hoppy masterpiece.
