Because the Stuttgart team from Kraftpaule has a great fondness for light beers, they also have a light beer with a normal tempo in their range in addition to their fast light beer. The brewers see their creation as a gentle introduction to craft beer. The Helle is actually more of a down-to-earth classic, but the brewery has catapulted the conventional brew into the 21st century with an extra portion of hops. Thanks to the particularly aromatic Hallertau Monroe hop variety, their light beer no longer only tastes like the three malt notes used, but also presents us with a wonderfully fruity sweetness and hoppy tartness.
The light flows into the glass in a gold tone that lives up to its name and carries an airy crown of white foam on its clear, shiny body. A bouquet of caramel, toasted grains and tangy fruit gives an olfactory foretaste of what awaits in the tasting. The initial taste reveals a tasty harmony of full-bodied malt and surprisingly present hops: full-bodied cereal notes spread in the mouth before the hops step in and deliver fruit aromas, green herbal notes and a fine bitterness. The hops skilfully intervene in the lush malt aroma and set tasteful accents that whet the appetite for beers with a stronger hop emphasis.
Fast or not, the Helle from Kraftpaule is a delight!
