Oktoberfest is the main beer festival in Germany. Beer is never drunk on any occasion anymore. Beer fans are already looking forward to the next Oktoberfest in winter and can hardly wait for the boozy beer party at the end of September. To make the wait a little easier for those waiting, the Stuttgart brewery Libertus releases a very special festival beer every year: their Craftoberfest. The fine Märzen is brewed in the style of a real Oktoberfest beer and is based on the traditional recipes of the past. Hardly any beer offered at Oktoberfest is still brewed the way it used to be, but Libertus' Craftoberfest is. The malt is the star in this beer and is presented in all its facets.
Craftoberfest flows into the glass in a dark amber tone and is crowned by a white, fragrant foam. A wonderful malt scent rises from the medium-sized foam head, presenting aromas of soft caramel, roasted grain and roasted almonds. The initial taste follows the olfactory first impression straight away and is exceptionally malty. Fine caramel, creamy toffee and roasted nuts meet a hoppy herbal note on the tongue. A subtle bitterness complements the play of aromas and elegantly rounds off the malty enjoyment.
It doesn't matter whether you drink this beer at Oktoberfest or at home in the garden. It tastes delicious everywhere!
