In times of Whatsapp and Internet telephony, long-distance calls are no longer an issue. In the past, however, it was completely different: long-distance calls were cost-intensive affairs that needed to be well planned and, at best, were kept short and to the point. You limited yourself to the essentials, otherwise the monthly phone bill would be significantly higher than usual. Today you use instant messenger, which is cheaper and less magical.
With its Italian Pils of the same name, the Blech.Brut brewery in Bamberg is reminiscent of long-distance calls from long-forgotten times. The old town hall of the cathedral city can be seen in all its baroque splendor on the label of the can, behind the splendor is an extremely drinkable Neo Pils, which was refined with a truckload of hops. The 5.6% strong beer specialty was brewed in Franconia and created in cooperation with the Latvian brewery Ārpus Brewing. The collaboration certainly required quite a lot of long distance calls!
The bottom-fermented full beer presents itself in a warm honey tone in the glass and smells like it too: notes of sun-dried hay, crunchy, green apples and tangy citrus fruit join the spicy scent of blossom honey. The taste follows the olfactory first impression and caresses the palate with floral notes, freshly mown grass, unripe stone fruits and citrus fruit with a fine acidity. A clean bitterness frames the play of aromas and concludes the enjoyment of the beer vigorously.
