By means of barrel aging , a beer is not only stored, it also deepens its own aroma and supplements it with components from the wood. The Bamberg brewery Blech.Brut is a fan of the taste of wood and likes to use it to refine their already sophisticated brews. In order to keep the infiltration of foreign tastes as low as possible, they did not fill their Dortmunder Export in barrels, but stored it on pieces of oak wood. The American oak wood gives the beer a smooth note that goes well with malt, grassy hops and delicate citrus. The brewers have chosen an elegant way to change the character of their beer.
