In its series of beers based on geometric bodies, the Blech.Brut brewery has now reached more obscure shapes and colors. The beginnings were stripes, squares and dots in shades like baby blue or rosé, but today the choice is much more sophisticated. The latest brewing piece in the series is inspired by the voluminous shape of a Venn diagram and appears in the rich green color of the mineral peridot.
Peridot Venn is a so-called Oak Aged IPA: an India Pale Ale that has been aged on French oak wood chips. This special oak variety is rich in vanilla flavors and adds a spicy aroma to the beer as it matures. The wood-aged specialty was created in collaboration with the Swedish brewery Shapes & Objects Beer Co. Both breweries share an affinity for geometric objects and bright colors. Their collaboration brew brings a good 6.5% alcohol content into the glass and delights the taste buds with a symphony of citrus notes, tropical fruit and pine resin.
The use of Citra, Idaho 7 and Mosaic hops gives the Peridot Venn a delicious combination of fruity and resinous nuances. These hoppy aromas are perfectly complemented by the subtle sweetness of vanilla, and storage on wood conjures up a depth of flavor in the beer.
We’ve never liked the Venn diagram so much!
