Amazonite is a mineral that was used to make jewelry thousands of years ago. The ancient Egyptians valued the stone for its turquoise color and used it to make rings, necklaces, earrings, and all kinds of other ornaments. The name of the stone is related to the Amazon River, although there are no amazonite deposits there. The largest deposits of the mineral are in the United States, South America, India, and Scandinavia. To this day, amazonite is used in jewelry in cut or untreated form.
The Blech.Brut brewery was inspired by the mineral’s attractive color to create a beer. The team has created a range that revolves around precious stones in colorful shades and Amazonite Hexagons is the latest example.
The can with the turquoise hexagons contains a fabulous Double New England IPA that captivates all the senses with its powerful 8.0% alcohol content, grippy texture and the variety of aromas from Citra and Talus. Barley and wheat malt are responsible for the dense cloudiness and the creamy, thick consistency. The two types of hops dominate the taste and bring an explosion of juicy fruit notes into the glass. A dry, hoppy finish crowns the beer enjoyment and makes you want the next can straight away.
