KiBa is an abbreviation that brings back happy childhood memories for many of us. The combination of the words cherry and banana stands for a drink made from cherry and banana juice, which ideally consists of two layers of red and yellow juice slowly flowing into one another - or, in the less ideal case, of a single, mushy brown layer. It is delicious in both versions.
The brewmasters at the Blech.Brut brewery also seem to have fond memories of the drink, as they have dared to create a more grown-up interpretation of the classic. The creation is called Cherry Fist and is an Imperial Fruited Sour. In contrast to conventional sour beers, which are usually lighter in nature, this one packs a punch with an impressive 9.2% alcohol content. In addition to three types of malt and hops, the powerful brew contains juice and puree made from cherries and bananas.
Blech.Bruts Cherry Fist flows into the glass in ruby-red shimmering copper and is decorated with a foamy head in delicate pink. Banana and cherry form the first olfactory impression and the two flavor nuances are also dominant in the first sip. The fruity duo is accompanied by a symphony of almonds, elderflower, honey and black currants. Sweetness and acidity are well balanced in the main part; the crowning finale is crisply sour and wonderfully cherry-like.
