Schleicher’s stork beer is named after the brewery’s own storks. For some time now, a pair of storks have been nesting on the chimney of the brewhouse, which towers high above the Itzgrund. Year after year, the majestic birds return to Franconia directly from the south and raise their young there from spring to autumn. Two to four long-legged chicks populate the nest annually, attracting visitors from near and far.
In honor of their feathered roommates, the brewers decided more than 20 years ago to brew a stork beer. Traditionally, this light brew was only available when the storks lived on the roof. Because demand was high for the rest of the year, the beer was included in the core range in 2012. Since then, the stork has also lent its name to an innovative project for gluten-free organic beers and two other creations. The brewery’s pride in its birds knows no bounds!
The original stork beer inspires with its slender, subtly composed shape. The pleasant 5.1% alcohol content warms body and soul, while light malt ensnares the palate. Spicy notes of honey, sun-ripened grain and delicate hints of hops with herbal notes create a tasty taste that harmonises wonderfully with Franconian cuisine.
