The Magnum hop variety is a true marvel of flavor and aroma. The plant was crossed from a German and an American variety and combines the qualities of both countries in a harmonious symbiosis. Magnum is valued for its clear, clean character. The hops enrich the aromas with notes of black pepper, nutmeg and tangy citrus fruits. In addition, Magnum delivers a wonderful bitterness that can enrich many different beer styles and make an intense statement.
Magnum is the star in Karlsbergs UrPils and shapes the flavor profile of this fine beer. The classic is brewed according to the strict rules of the German Purity Law and comes with a tasty 4.8% alcohol content and a crisp 35 bitterness units. Like many other beers in the Karlsberg range, the UrPils has already won numerous prizes in international competitions.
Karlsberg’s interpretation of a Pilsner presents itself in a brilliant, crystal-clear gold tone in the glass. A seductive scent rises from the dense-pored head of foam and entices you to take the first sip with notes of freshly baked biscuits and gently roasted malt. This reveals a slim, light-footed body with an elegant taste profile: Soft malt ensnares the palate with notes of bread crust, grain and straw, before the hops step in and enrich the aromas with a portion of mown grass, subtle citrus fruit and crisp bitterness.
