In contrast to the green or spotted woodpecker, the gold woodpecker is not found in our latitudes. The copper-colored bird has black dots and stripes on its plumage, and borrows its name from the glowing gold on the inside of its wings. Most specimens of its kind are native to North and Central America. Like its European relatives, the bird prefers an insect-rich diet and knocks its nesting holes into deadwood. Sometimes you can also find its nesting sites in telephone poles and other tall trees. When it comes to incubating the eggs and feeding the offspring, woodpeckers are extremely modern: both parents are equally involved and the males incubate more often than their partners.
The Goldspecht from the Spessart brewery is also modern: your little bird is not a bird with a penchant for ants, but a wonderful festival beer. Thanks to selected malts, the amber-colored beauty brings rich caramel notes into the glass and combines them with gentle roasted aromas, sun-ripened grain and fruity freshness. Delicate notes of orange marmalade and freshly baked bread as well as notes of green herbs complete the play of aromas. A nutty, subtly bitter finish skilfully rounds off the enjoyment of beer and whets the appetite for the next bottle.
