Kemker Kultuur is a highly specialized brewery that has chosen two areas of the art of brewing that can still be described as niches. Jan and his team are committed to the renaissance of old Münster beer styles and are pursuing this plan with dedication, passion and an infallible eye for detail. No distance is too far for them to produce authentic beers in a traditional manner: Countless experiments are carried out, hours of research are conducted and sometimes the brewery even has to grow grain itself in order to come as close as possible to the historical original. The other hobbyhorse is no less time-consuming. After the recipes have been painstakingly reconstructed and brewed with raw materials that are almost extinct, the result is bottled in oak barrels for many months. Most of the aging vessels come from France and were previously used to make wine.
The season named Mandarina was also barrel aged. The beer, inspired by the art of brewing in Belgium, was stored in the barrels for more than a year and developed an incomparable aroma during this time. While cask deepened the soft malt base and imbued the brew with woody and spicy notes, aging also intensified the summery freshness and juicy fruitiness of the main hop variety, Mandarina Bavaria.
