The Arcobräu in Moos, Lower Bavaria, has always served excellent beer that attracted people from near and far. But it wasn’t just the beer that drew people to the pub: Legend has it that a particularly beautiful waitress, Liesl from Moos, worked there and delighted young and old with her charm. Back then, waiters would walk through the room with a jug and refill the beer. Liesl did this with so much charm that she became the figurehead of the brewery.

Today, we remember this fabulous time with a fine beer. The Mooser Liesl is a pale beer that is based on the brew that Liesl used to pour out of her jug. The Liesl adorns the label, and behind it is a tasty drink that is flavored with fine natural hops.

In the glass, the beer equivalent of the Schankmaid presents itself in a radiant sun gold. A stately white crown sits on the crystal-clear body and smells temptingly of gently roasted grain, forest herbs, honey and a hint of citrus fruit. The first sip reveals a drinkable character that is made up of mild malt, soft honey sweetness, hints of oven-fresh biscuits and grassy hops. Sweetness and bitterness are wonderfully balanced and result in a full-bodied, thirst-quenching whole.
