The Altbier is not only the flagship of the Düsseldorf-based private brewery Frankenheim, but also the beer that the staff likes to brew and drink the most. The recipe for this classic beer dates back to 1873, when the beer was brewed for the first time in the Frankenheim brewery. This year is the year the brewery was founded and the date that laid the foundation for its success story. From the very beginning, everything in the company revolved around the Altbier, a style that is particularly popular in and around Düsseldorf.
The Frankenheim version is brewed according to the specifications of the Bavarian Purity Law and contains only the best raw materials. The hops come from Hallertau and are hand-selected year after year. The green gold is combined with a selection of the finest malts, including Munich and roasted malt.
The Frankenheim Alt presents itself in a crystal-clear sun gold in the Alt-Stange and is crowned with a lush cap of white, fine-pored foam. A gentle roasted aroma unfolds and tickles the nose with notes of caramel, hearty bread and toasted grain. The first sip turns out to be a sparkling delight with fine roasted notes, brown bread and toffee. In the finale, the roasted aromas gain momentum and combine with a floral, citrus-fruity hopiness to create a worthy finish.
