Sirens are legendary creatures. According to legend, the fish-tailed beauties sat on craggy rocks in ancient times and lured love-hungry fishermen and sailors with their enchanting singing. The boats of the curious sailors crashed on the cliffs and the sirens took over the shipwrecked sailors.
The brewers of the Coronado Brewing Company also work with the ingenious methods of the sirens: they do not sing, but lure their customers with the sweet promise of a tasty beer. They have created a fine Amber Ale that seduces those thirsty for beer with its copper-red shine, heavenly scent and a velvety soft initial taste with creamy caramel notes, toasted bread and candied dark fruit. After the pleasant first impression, one lets oneself fully enjoy the beer, only to be overwhelmed by a wave of crisp hop notes in this vulnerable state. Freshly squeezed citrus fruits meet spicy pine resin and a pointed bitterness and defy the malty initial taste. At the end of the day, the two opponents enter into a harmonious symbiosis and enchant your palate with melt-in-the-mouth chocolate, clove, hoppy bitterness and toasted malt.
Coronado’s Hoppy Red Ale is called Mermaid’s Red and, in addition to the aromatic roller coaster ride, brings a pleasant 5.7% alcohol content and a decent 46 bitterness units to the glass.
