The first beer from a young brewery is something very special. Some brewers work for years to test their brews on real audiences, not just friends and family, and await the first real feedback with bated breath. The debut of the Abita brewery from Louisiana, America, was their fine amber and it hit like a bomb. The Munich-style lager sold like hot cakes and quickly established the brewery’s reputation across the state.
With the rest of the range, the brewers then proved that their premiere brew was by no means a stroke of luck: Countless beers followed and continue to do so, earning the brewery fame and glory in the beer scene. And the Amber Lager is still one of the favorites in Abita’s wide selection.
The popularity of this beer certainly has many reasons. For example, the harmoniously balanced amber can be wonderfully combined with a variety of dishes. However, it also tastes good on its own. The main flavor note is a soft, tenderly melting caramel tone, which combines with sunny cereals, notes of bread and subtle roasted aromas to create an irresistible blend. A light-footed, subtly fruity and beautifully bitter finish rounds off the beer enjoyment and leaves a hint of earthy herbs on the tongue.
