Flemish red beer is a beer style from Belgium, whose worldwide fame is attributed to the Rodenbach brewery in Roeselare. The brew is traditionally brewed with strongly roasted malt and is characterized by its special fermentation: the conventional yeast, in this case a top-fermenting one, is combined with a strain of lactic acid bacteria. The bacterial culture works hand in hand with the yeast and gives the beer a fine acidity. The fabulous taste is further deepened by maturation in oak barrels.
At this point we would like to introduce you to the classic from Rodenbach. Classic is made from three parts young, freshly brewed beer and one part old beer matured in oak. Their Belgian sour beer brings a pleasant 5.2% alcohol content to the glass and presents itself in a ruby-red shimmering chestnut brown with an ivory-colored head. A fruity scent rises from the fine-pored, creamy foam and invites you to take the first sip. The first sip reveals a powerful, round body that refreshes body and mind with a potpourri of sophisticated aromas. Notes of ripe sour cherries meet red wine, smoked malt and a fruity acidity on the palate, which goes harmoniously with the delicate residual sweetness. The lively carbonic acid lets the aromas dance on the tongue and gives the brew a wonderful freshness.
