In the context of this beer, we would like to introduce you to a legend of the Belgian beer scene. Pierre Celis was born in the town of Hoegaarden and did his homeland a great service. However, one by one. At first, Pierre earned his money by helping out on his parents’ stockyard and as a milkman. The young man also worked in his neighbor’s brewery. Louis Tomsin brewed beer and awakened Pierre’s passion for the beer. In the mid-1950s, however, the brewery had to close and with it a typical Belgian style of beer disappeared from the menu. The Wit was forgotten for a while. Pierre couldn’t take this tragedy lightly, so he decided to take matters into his own hands and brew his own beer. In one of his father’s empty stables, he brewed his first brew in a wash tub before he was able to buy the equipment of an abandoned brewery with a financial loan from his parents. Pierre brought the wit back to his homeland and single-handedly triggered a renaissance of the refreshing style.

In honor of and in collaboration with this inspired man, St Bernardus Brewery’s Wit is a classic take on the Belgian favorite in cloudy gold with flavors of coriander seed, clove and orange zest.
