Autumn time is pumpkin time. As soon as the first leaf has fallen from the tree, we start wanting pumpkins. We want to make pumpkin soup, pumpkin pie, pumpkin carving, pumpkin coffee, pumpkin seeds and anything else that can be made out of the mostly bright orange fellows. The downside to this glorious season is a whole lot of unused squash. The supermarket shelves offer more than is bought and, as with all fruit, there is a strict pre-selection process: pumpkins with dents, bumps, soft spots and unsightly shapes don't even end up on the shelves.
The Dutch brewery Løwlander takes on these sad fellows and turns them into the finest beer that satisfies our autumn cravings with a large portion of pumpkin. Appropriately, the brewers have seasoned their beer with spiced orange: the sunny citrus fruit not only comes in the same color as the pumpkin, it also harmonises wonderfully with it aromatically. The team also tossed cinnamon, ginger, and cardamom into the cauldron for the popular pumpkin spice overall. This unbeatable combination of fiery spices sets the mood for autumn on the tongue and inspires you to take long walks through the colorful foliage or cook up a big pot of steaming pumpkin curry for friends and family.
