Distant galaxies with their mysterious moons, suns and inhabitants have always fascinated mankind: long before we were able to travel into space, extraterrestrials and their extraterrestrial flying objects and home planets dominated books, films and series. To this day, science fiction is one of the most popular genres in the entertainment business and has kept people in suspense for decades with exciting stories about UFOs, intergalactic travel and alien species. The brewers at the Spanish brewery Espiga are also Sci-Fi fans. They live out their passion for the supernatural and extraterrestrial with a fine beer specialty.
Outer Galaxies is a hopped Double Dry Hopped India Pale Ale with a hefty 7.5% ABV. The intensely flavored beer specialty owes its enormous concentration of aromas to the Simcoe, Mosaic and Cashmere hop varieties, which were both brewed in the conventional manner and used in the dry hopping process. In addition to the generous portion of hops, wheat and oat flakes also found their way into the kettle. This addition gives the beer its wonderfully creamy texture and stable stature.
Espigas DDH IPA flows into the glass in a heavily cloudy amber gold and smells of summer fruit and freshly cut herbs. The taste follows the olfactory first impression and inspires with juicy notes of peach, lime, mango and grapefruit as well as hints of herbs. A pleasant, harmonious bitterness completes the beer enjoyment.
