Although this drink from Espiga was created by a brewery and comes in a can, it is not beer. Ginger Coffee is basically exactly what it says on the tin: a refreshing and unconventional mix of cold brewed coffee and Espiga’s popular ginger beer . The team came up with the idea for this unusual brew when they visited their friends at Onyva. Onyva not only runs several cafés and fair trade with small coffee farms around the world, but also its own roastery. True coffee experts and the best partners for Espiga to venture into completely new territory.
Onyva contributed coffee from Guatemala to the project, which was prepared using cold extraction. In this gentle process, coarsely ground coffee beans are soaked at room temperature for 12 to 24 hours. The coffee grounds are then filtered out and the drink is ready to enjoy. Or ready to be married to Espiga’s sparkling ginger beer made from ginger, organic lemons and sugar cane.
In addition to the sweet, almost chocolatey notes of coffee, Ginger Coffee brings a wonderful ginger freshness and a hint of fruity spiciness to the glass. Its makers prefer to serve Ginger Coffee well chilled in a tall, slim glass with plenty of ice cubes.
