13 is a mystical number. Many fear her and consider her a bringer of bad luck, others see her as the complete opposite. Many hotels do not have room 13 and on some airlines the 12th row of seats is immediately followed by the 14th. The French brewery La Débauche does not seem to belong to the superstitious circle, because its latest creation is called Chapître 13, Chapter 13.
The black, white and red label features a girl with lush hair and mysteriously closed eyes. The playful design comes from illustrator Zoé Crevette, who is known for her imaginative characters. The artist has previously worked with the Brasserie La Débauche and created great designs for the creative beers.
Following its name “Black IPA”, Chapître 13 flows into the glass in a clear mahogany tone. The deep black is broken by ruby red reflections when light shines into the glass. An airy, light, fine-pored foam crowns the beer. A fine potpourri of dark aromas rises from the slightly tinted head of foam. The initial taste reveals a full-bodied beer that, despite its dark aroma, is surprisingly light-footed and drinkable. Delicately melting chocolate meets wonderfully smoky roasted notes on the tongue. Freshly brewed coffee combines with candied orange and a hint of licorice to create an irresistible play of aromas. The finish is strongly bitter and leaves you wanting more!
