The latest coup from the Estonian brewery Lehe combines the aesthetics just described with an unusual beer that not only hipsters taste good!
Kodanluse Discreetne Volu is the Estonian expression for the discreet charm of the bourgeoisie and is a bière de garde aged in the wine barrels of the Jurançon. Bière de Garde is a top-fermented beer style that has its roots in France. Fittingly, after the brewing process, the brewers of Lehe poured this beer into wooden barrels that were formerly used to ferment wine. The barrels come from the Jurançon wine-growing region, which is characterized by its wonderfully sweet, aromatic grapes. As a rule, a strong, full-bodied beer type such as stout is selected for barrel-aged beers. To emphasize the fine notes of the wine, a lighter beer was used here. And the concept works: the result is a light-footed beer that tastes incomparably elegant and subtle.
