For a long time, alcohol-free beer was frowned upon by brewers and beer connoisseurs alike. The brew was considered a tasteless variant of alcohol-free beer and was known for its bland and inelegantly grainy character. Hardly anyone saw the non-alcoholic as a real alternative to normal beer. That has changed drastically over the past few years: More and more craft brewers have devoted themselves to the unpopular cousin of conventional beer and created specimens with taste and personality. Meanwhile, many, if not most, breweries serve the needs of alcohol avoiders with delicious non-alcoholic beers that lack nothing. Except for alcohol, of course.
The Norwegian brewery Nøgne Ø is also enriching the market with successful non-alcoholic beers. Along with Himla Humla , Svart / Hvit is one of our favorites. The dark beer delights with a full-bodied body and strong aromas.
Nøgne Ø’s powerful Milk Stout flows into the glass in the darkest shade of mahogany brown and exudes a bewitching scent of white coffee, chocolate, toasted bread and caramel when poured. The initial taste continues the enjoyment with a malty variety: notes of toasted grain meet roasted nuts and candied plums. Intense notes of Turkish mocha, dark cocoa with cream, oriental spices and freshly cut herbs complement the complex interplay of aromas and make the non-alcoholic beer a real culinary delight.
