The Imperial Stout looks back on a long tradition. Even in ancient Russia, strong beer was valued for its qualities. It was strong enough to survive the wild, adventurous sea voyage from Europe to Russia unscathed. And the St. Petersburg nobility also liked the taste: complex and full-bodied, the stout could and can keep up with any wine, no matter how good it was.

No wonder that this beer style has survived to the present day and is still very popular today.

The imperial stout from the Lithuanian brewery Sakiškių alus is 9.2% vol. strong, there's a lot of flavor behind the percentages. The profound complexity of this stout becomes apparent as soon as you pour it: a spectrum of strong malt notes, ranging from chocolate to vanilla to caramel, is complemented by exciting smoky notes. The combination of the sweet roasted malts with the spicy, fiery smoke gives the beer a unique flavor structure, which is supported by a subtle hop bitterness. The bitter-sour aroma of dried cranberries gives the beer a fruity bitterness that extends into the finish. The deep brown beer with nut brown foam has a creamy, rich mouthfeel and is extremely drinkable despite the alcohol content.

We recommend this imperial stout with your next steak. Thanks to its complex palette of dark flavors, it goes great with red meat!
