Although a generous slice of cheesecake topped with fresh raspberries makes a great breakfast, the brewers at Ten Men Brewery declare their Raspberry Cheesecake Ale as not breakfast-worthy. That might be down to the alcohol content, but we think a pastry sour ale at a balmy 4.2% can be enjoyed on a lazy Sunday morning.
No matter what time of day you enjoy Not For Breakfast: Raspberry Cheesecake, it tastes great.
The dessert-like beer specialty is brewed with a generous helping of fresh raspberries and lactic acid bacteria. While the former are responsible for the red color, the pink foam and the strong raspberry aroma, the latter are responsible for the soft sweetness. The brew pours into the glass in bright magenta and is crowned with a hand’s width of foam in delicate rosé. The rising scent is reminiscent of a summer trip to grandma’s garden: the juicy aroma of freshly picked raspberries fills the air and makes you want to take the first sip. The first taste combines the raspberry aroma of the olfaction with notes of oven-fresh cheesecake. Creamy cream meets full-bodied sweetness and the unmistakable taste of raspberries. A strong fruit acid rounds off the aroma play and gives the beer an interesting note.
For breakfast or not, Not For Breakfast: Raspberry Cheesecake is always fun!
