Corsendonk

It seems as if monks are the real beer experts, because the Belgian brewery Corsendonk also has its roots in a monastery. Located in idyllic Alt-Turnhout, the Corsendonk brewery was a contact point for beer-thirsty people from all over Belgium for almost 400 years. Luckily, this brewing tradition was continued after the monastery was closed, because the beer from Corsendonk is a hit.

Brewing tradition since 1398

Beer production was originally conceived as a meditative activity for the monks. Brewing was intended to offer them the opportunity for physical exercise and to balance out their intellectual work. However, the Corsendonk brewery became very popular in Belgium as early as the Middle Ages and the beer sold extremely well. The monks knew how to brew excellent beers and would certainly have continued to do so to this day had it not been for Emperor Joseph II. He ordered the monastery and brewery to be closed in 1784. Brewing activities were not resumed until 1906.

Simply and simply good

At Corsendonk, only natural ingredients of the highest quality go into the brewing kettle. In addition to clear, fresh water, only malt, hops, yeast and herbs are used. The beers that are created are complex and cleverly composed. With the labels, as with the ingredients, we focus on the essentials. Simple in design, they fit wonderfully into the prevailing trend of minimalism. Only the seasonal beers like the Christmas Ale are a little out of the ordinary with their colorful layout. The beers are brewed and bottled in Belgium - a fact and a quality feature that Corsendonk is very proud of. For us it doesn't matter whether it's brewed in Belgium or on the moon, the main thing is that it's good and that's it. Sante!
