Bierothek GmbH now also sends chilled packages from its central cold storage facility. The additional offer is intended to bring heat-sensitive beer specialties of the highest possible quality to consumers. When it comes to energy procurement, the Bierothek® relies on green electricity.

The Bierothek® now also offers the option of refrigerated shipping for orders via its online shop. After the Bamberg specialty beer retailer recently moved into a new central cold storage facility in Bamberg, this expansion of the range now represents the next step in maintaining the longest possible cold chain for the fresh beer product. “Particularly for hoppy beers, it is an essential quality criterion that the beer reaches the customer as freshly as possible,” says Bierothek® founder Christian Klemenz, explaining the reasons for the new investment.

“In order to ensure continuous cooling during transport, we include food-safe and reusable cool packs with the shipments,” says eCommerce manager Christoph Hohner, explaining the technical procedure. Authorized representative Stefan Kafara adds: “In the spirit of sustainability, our cold storage facility is already powered by 100% renewable energy from hydropower. We also offset the transport-related CO2 emissions through offsetting measures.” In addition, the roof of the 1,000 square meter cold storage facility is to be equipped with a photovoltaic system in the near future. The Bierothek® would like to reconcile its promise of quality on the one hand and ecological responsibility on the other.
