The Drei Kronen brewery in the heart of the Franconian town of Memmelsdorf is a true splendor from the outside: the yellow building in the region's typical architectural style is a listed building and is decorated with lush geraniums and other flowers in summer. Inside there is a cozy guest room and a hotel.
The real highlight, however, is the brewery.
Five centuries of brewing history
The Drei Kronen brewery has been brewing the finest beer for more than 565 years. This makes the small brewery one of the oldest breweries in the region. If you consider that Franconia and Bavaria are places with the highest concentration of breweries anywhere, this is quite special. The brewery team relies on its centuries-old brewing history and draws on the wealth of experience of numerous generations of brewers who shaped the brewery into the company it is today. The brewery has now been in family hands for four generations and is run by the family's two daughters. Lisanna and her husband are responsible for the hotel and the guest rooms, the brewery is under Isabella's responsibility. She completed her master brewing and malting exam in 2008 and not only brought valuable specialist knowledge from her training, but also brought her future husband with her to the company. Markus is also a brewer and has been supporting the family since his wedding to Isabella in 2015. Together, the two of them are leading the traditional brewery into the future with new ideas, innovative technology and the finest beer. Preserving the Franconian brewing tradition and its roots is particularly important to them.
Daughters at the top
The beer from the Drei Kronen brewery is a successful mix of down-to-earth classics, Franconian evergreens and modern craft beer. A handful of seasonal specialties complement the selection and ensure that there is the right beer for every taste and every occasion. Examples such as the smoked beer Stöffla or the rich bock beer Böckla represent the Franconian art of brewing and speak of the brewery's centuries of brewing experience. The team demonstrates its knack for contemporary beers with creations such as their Kühlschiff IPA Nessie . The brewers attach great importance to using the finest raw materials in their work and source a large proportion of their ingredients from local farmers.
