Espiga is the Spanish word for ear of wheat and the name of a brewery that grew out of a passion project. The two former biologists Teresa and Arnau felt called upon to create something completely extraordinary: a beer that has soul. They wanted to create a beer that radiates liveliness and a clear statement like a person with personality, character, rough edges. Anyone who has ever tasted Espiga's beers knows how well they succeeded.
The founders of Espiga place particular focus on the high quality of their raw materials and the careful processing of them. This is the only way to create a product that meets your own requirements. They clearly speak out against the process of pasteurization - too much of the original vitality would be lost. Espiga attaches great importance to transparent production and explains the brewing process to interested beer lovers with understandable graphics on their website . Theresa and Arnau's passion is in every detail and can of course also be seen in the quality of their beer. Their hard work and dedication paid off in 2014 when they received the Silver Medal at the Global Craft Beer Awards for their beer Espiga, a Black IPA.
What was initially only reserved for beer lovers in Spain can now also be enjoyed here: In addition to the award winner Espiga, there are other special beers such as the gluten-free Blonde Ale , which will not only please allergy sufferers. It seduces with a surprisingly wide range of fruity aromas, ranging from tropical citrus notes to white grapes and a delicate watermelon taste. But Espiga's other beers, such as Espiga Black Cel Ona or Woody Cherry , which was created in cooperation with the Russian brewery On the Bones, are also impressive. They are characterized by the fine aroma and the elegant coordination of the individual flavor notes.
